In the course of the second half of the nineteenth century, two railroad tracks were built around Paris. In addition to the 'Grande Ceinture', a 'Petite Ceinture', a small ring, was constructed which connected the various 'gates' of the city and connected with the metro lines. This railway ran on an elevated track between the buildings, an ideal idea for a small model railway. François Joyau built a small piece of this on a model railway with a length of 200 cm and a maximum depth of 60 cm.
